ELD Implementation

Electronic Logging Device (ELD) Training/Implementation

Because of its importance and complexity, we have ELDs training/implementation separated from other trainings. We are providing an integrated approach to implement ELDs, and help you reap its inherent benefits. ELD mandate is the biggest evolutionary step in the trucking history. Proper implementation will enhance operational excellence and profits, others will struggle to understand and implement it.

Successful implementation of ELD’s will involve the following:

  • Selection of right device
  • Integration of device data into your current systems
  • Training of drivers and back office
Problems:

The carriers and the industry at large face problems which need systematic approach to address:

Carriers:
  • Difficulty in selecting the right kind of ELD according to the fleet requirement.
  • No formal training for Drivers and office staff about the use of ELD devices.
  • The training provided by the ELD vendor is not useful
  • Inefficient use of data obtained from ELD.
Industry
  • Most of the carriers are in chaos and confusion as they are unable to manage this forced change.
  • Around 10% drivers have already exited running US loads, this shortage is evident in the industry
  • With enhanced control offered by ELDs, carriers tend to micro-manage, this is not appreciated by drivers
  • Smaller trucking companies are in crisis for survival due to shortage of drivers fueled by ELDs
  • Carriers are struggling to coordinate and maintain relationships with customers due to ELDs
  • Carriers who deal with multiple freight brokers are further in crises due to time constraints.
Our Expertise

We have done thorough research on FMCSA compliant ELD devices, therefore we understand the capability and cost (including hidden costs) of each ELD device available in the market today. We can advise you exactly which ELD device best suits your needs as per your fleet size and operational requirements. We will be working on data driven approach so that you can optimize the use of data obtained from ELD to increase the operational efficiency of your fleet.

Solutions we offer:
Help you Choose right ELD
  • Help you select appropriate ELD device as per your fleet size and functional requirements
  • Simple ELD required by the regulations versus or that offers back-office management capabilities.
  • Fully functional ELDs reduce operating costs and Improve efficiency in operations and administration.
  • Hidden costs, customer service and training component are important during comparison.
  • Choosing ELD, the right one and the first time because it can not be not replaced easily.
Prepare you for change management for successful implementation of ELDs
  • Provide training session for the drivers and office staff for ELD use
  • Advise necessary organisational, process and technical changes to reap benefits
  • Prepare drivers change psychologically and physiologically to work in ELD regime
  • Understand the requirements for HOS/ELD supporting documents
  • Advise to use of ELD data for reducing costs such as equipment maintenance and route planning
  • Customised training for drivers and back office due to learning curve.
  • Identify current trips not needing ELDs, come up with workable options.
  • Running e-logs alongside paper logs toassess tighter time constraints. Congestion and delays.
  • Addressing time constraints, congestion and delays at loading docks with customers.
  • Account for unassigned vehicle moves, or moves by mechanics or outside service providers.
  • Challenges will arise as you get deeper into the adoption, that needs to be understood.
Objectives of our ELD training/implementation
  • Identify the requirements for ELD mandate as specified by FMCSA
  • Identify the key features of low end and high end ELD device
  • Determine factors (from a common list) to choose ELD for your company
  • Determine model and vendor of ELD for your company
  • Develop prerequisite for ELD implementation
  • Determine software and hardware requirements for integration to your current systems
  • Develop standard operating procedures (SOP) for use of ELD device
  • Determine method of registering complaints from drivers
  • Determine effective corrective actions
  • Determine categories of data required for analysis to monitor effectiveness of ELD implementation
  • Maintain an effective ELD system
